Tennis Tots was started in 2008 by Matthew McTurk, a previous Tennis professional and champion. Tennis Tots goes far beyond just getting kids playing tennis, it aims to provide an all round approach for children to develop many different skills whilst learning a sport that can stay with them for the rest of their lives and help tackle the issue of childhood obesity. Incorporating many of the early years learning goals, the Tennis Tots curriculum provides a unique experience for children to develop physically, socially and emotionally and helps provide an environment to get children ready for a classroom setting and serves the children well into their school years and beyond. Using a structured approach to each session children learn to listen to instructions whilst having fun and learning about numbers, colours, shapes and letters as well as developing their tennis skills.

The Budokwai
The Budokwai

The Budokwai is the oldest and most famous Japanese martial arts club in Europe. For nearly a century, the club has been both a beacon of excellence and a prime mover in their development. It played a leading role in the establishment of the European Judo Union (EJU) and the International Judo Federation (IJF). Some of the most distinguished figures in the history of the Japanese martial arts have trained or taught at the Budokwai, including many Olympic medalists. The Budokwai began as a Judo club and still offers Judo classes throughout the week. They also offer regular martial arts classes with highly qualified martial arts instructors, experienced and able to offer a range of coaching and instruction for the complete novice through to Olympic standard. The Budokwai also run a number of children’s classes of the same high standard and the children's Judo classes & Karate classes attract a great number of youngsters every week.

The Creation Station

Giving expression to your own imagination in a group setting provides lots of benefits. It helps young children learn to make choices, share, listen, observe, pretend, problem solve, as well as play and interact with others. The Creation Station isn’t simply about learning how to paint, model or collage along the lines of “Here’s one we did earlier”. It’s all about having a go, being inspired by something quite simple and encouraging each person to develop their own ideas. It’s amazing seeing that happen and it also gives you a huge boost of confidence when your ideas are taken seriously - no matter how old you are! Started in 2002, the sessions are designed within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) of the Department of Education’s framework. They take into account The Early Goals for pre-school children to help them practise and develop their skills in preparation for school.

It thrives on a healthy mix of social and competitive tennis, played throughout the year, and caters for a variety of memberships from full annual membership through to the junior level. Junior coaching starts at three years old with Tots Tennis. The coaching staff also work with a number of local schools and are very experienced at working with children, All coaches hold a LTA/PTR coaching qualification, first aid trained and DBS checked.

ZoMara was founded by two mothers; one is a fitness instructor and the other is a nutritional chef. They decided to come together to offer families a “Mummy and Me” fitness class and provide a nutritious child-friendly post-workout meal. Being mothers themselves, ZoMara understand that reconnecting with your core, strengthening your pelvic floor and allowing your stomach muscles to heal is necessary and virtually impossible whilst juggling parental duties. They aim to guide you back into full fitness in a safe and effective way. The classes are designed to be child-friendly, fun, challenging and well informed. It’s a great workout and fantastic stretch and gives you a much needed opportunity to unwind. After class, ZoMara encourage eating together as your body will crave nourishment after a solid workout. Your kids can continue playing and eating with others, which creates a happy environment for social interaction and trying new foods (whilst the mums hang out and recover from the physical activity).
